Supercell x AI Event

The ETH Agentic Systems Lab recently hosted a fireside chat at ETH Zurich exploring the future of AI in gaming with leading voices from industry and venture capital.

The discussion featured Akusti Aaltonen and Stephan Visser from Supercell's AI Innovation Lab alongside Edo Treccani from Founderful, who shared insights into how agentic AI is reshaping the gaming industry—from game development and player experiences to business models and production workflows.

One key theme emerged clearly: agentic AI is already transforming the way games are built and played. As AI-powered tools accelerate content creation and enable rapid iteration, the traditional bottlenecks in game production are disappearing. At the same time, player expectations are shifting toward more interactive, social, and dynamic experiences.

The speakers also shared how Supercell integrates AI into its development philosophy. By giving small, autonomous teams access to powerful AI tools—from code generation and concept creation to player behavior prediction—developers can iterate faster, personalize gameplay at scale, and explore entirely new AI-native game mechanics.

The event also highlighted Supercell's AI Innovation Lab, a 9-week program in Helsinki that brings together top talent from across Europe to experiment with the next generation of AI-powered games. The program provides compute resources, mentorship, and full creative autonomy while allowing participants to retain their intellectual property.

Following the fireside chat, builders from across the ETH ecosystem presented live demos of emerging projects at the intersection of AI and gaming, including an AI-enabled Dungeons & Dragons experience, gamified education platforms, and AI-generated PBR textures for game development.

The evening brought together researchers, developers, founders, and students interested in the future of agentic AI systems and interactive entertainment.

The event was organized in collaboration with members of the ETH ecosystem and the ETH Game Dev Club, and is part of a growing series of gatherings exploring how agentic AI will shape the next generation of digital products and creative tools.
