Agentic Systems Track at Colosseum Idearum

The ETH Agentic Systems Lab hosted the Agentic Systems Track at Colosseum Idearum, a 24-hour hackathon held on May 21–22, 2026, at the Careum Auditorium in Zurich. The track was organized together with Founderful and Amazon Web Services (AWS), which provided compute resources for participating teams.

Dr. Robert Jakob, Co-Director of the ETH Agentic Systems Lab, presented the challenge and served as a judge alongside experts from Founderful and AWS. Participants were encouraged to move beyond simple LLM wrappers and "vibe coding" by building scalable systems involving agentic orchestration, fine-tuning, and robust engineering on AWS infrastructure.

The winning team developed Trajecta, a solution for drug discovery built by Barnabas Juhasz, Glody Figueiredo, Noé Stammbach, Fiorenzo Comini, and their teammate.

Trajecta addresses a limitation of many existing drug-discovery models, which evaluate molecules based on static representations. Instead, the team used molecular-dynamics simulations to analyze how drugs and their targets move over time. By extending and fine-tuning OpenTSLM on open molecular-dynamics data, the system predicts binding strength and flags uncertain predictions.

The approach could help research teams narrow down promising drug candidates more quickly, reducing the time and cost required for laboratory screening. The team plans to continue developing the project beyond the hackathon.

Colosseum Idearum brought together students, researchers, founders, and industry experts across three technology tracks. The event featured CHF 5,000 in prize money, workshops, panels, keynotes, and side events.
